Our history
Vienna Beach Resort, the inaugural hotel in Amed, was constructed in 1986 and became operational a year later. During that time, the village was characterized by tranquility, immersed in traditional life where locals engaged in farming and fishing using traditional boats.
The Austrian couple who owned the land partnered with locals to establish a small business, initially as a homestay. They began by constructing four guesthouses with traditional grass roofs and bamboo furniture, reflecting the local style.
As word spread about its unique fine sand beach, serene atmosphere and stunning house reef, tourists flocked to the guesthouses. Consequently, plans were made to expand with an additional six rooms to accommodate the growing demand, as the existing rooms often reached full occupancy.
In 2019, the property was sold to the actual owner, a Balinese Family from Lipah composed of 3 brothers Diri, Nyoman and Sasa and the property underwent renovations including upgrades to rooms, kitchen facilities, the restaurant, and the addition of a swimming pool. The interior of the rooms was refurbished to a high standard, offering three twin bed rooms and seven double bed rooms. Vienna Beach resort is managed by Nyoman & Made and with 10 VIP rooms of authentic Balinese style is the perfect place to unwind, connect with nature and try aquatic activites like snorkelling, free diving and fishing. The hotel now has his own Dive center, managed by Sasa, where you can experience your first scuba Introdive (with training in swimming pool if needed) and take all PADI dive courses in 5 languages.
